Young ambassadors pushing creative youth agenda

Wiltshire Creative’s Young Ambassadors are helping shape and inform decisions being made at the creative organisation.

The group also suggests ideas that are then included in the programme of events, including the upcoming workshops and show by SK Shlomo, a world-renowned beatboxer.

The group meets fortnightly to discuss how Wiltshire Creative can be more responsive, relevant, and exciting for young people in the local community.

There is also the opportunity to get involved in projects and events throughout the year.

The Young Ambassadors group is  open to anyone aged 14-21. They can be interested in any art form. The group supports Wiltshire Creative’s work with young people in Salisbury and the wider county.

You can hear from some of the current ambassadors this afternoon on Salisbury Radio with Andy Munns at around 4:20 about how they help make changes and push ideas they believe young people in the area will be interested in.

We spoke to Freya, Fiona, Florrie and Eliza about how they influence decisions and get involved in the planning process at Wiltshire Creative.

What have the Young Ambassadors achieved?

  • Established the SHIFT programme to amplify the young voices of Salisbury through the arts.
  • Programmed events and opportunities for young people, including SHIFT Socials and Creative Courses.
  • Funded four Youth Provision projects within Salisbury
  • Sat on recruitment panels
  • Acted as a youth panel for Wiltshire Council
