Whites frustrated by Hendon

Brian Dutton and his players will feel frustrated by the draw against Hendon on Saturday.

Salisbury led 3-1 as the game headed for stoppage time but somehow managed to only come away with a point against the second-bottom side.

Sam Roberts dropped to the bench feeling the effects of illness though Brandon Goodship and Marvin Brooks returned to the starting lineup.

Salisbury were dominant for large parts of the game but went behind after 10 minutes.

Sol Sambou latched on to a ball inside from Rohdell Gordon and found the bottom corner as his finish went beyond Gerard Benfield in the Salisbury goal.

Salisbury levelled things up in stoppage time at the end of the first half. Goodship got on the end of good build-up play from Dan Fitchett and Dinesh Gillela.

After being level at halftime, Salisbury again dominated, proceeding as the second half got underway.

Salisbury’s second came after a good freekick from Lucas Tomlinson. The ball fell to Calvin Brooks, who fired home on 62 minutes.

Seven minutes later, Salisbury extended their lead as Fitchett got on the score sheet.

Salisbury looked to be seeing the game out until the game reached stoppage time.

First, Joe White after 92 minutes, and then Guri Demuria slid in to put the ball past Benfield and levelled things up with 94 minutes on the clock.

It will feel like 2 points dropped for the home side after dominating the game.

Salisbury Men’s next game is on Tuesday, a Wiltshire Premier Sheild home tie against Corsham Town, 7:45 pm kick-off.

However, it was better news on Sunday for the Salisbury FC Women’s team.

The women ran out 3-1 winners away at Westbury Ladies, giving them their fifth win in a row.

Goals from Rahel Lang, Zoe Alcock and Ellen Clarke gave the Whites the win as they extend their winning streak.

If they beat Marlborough next Sunday, they will have won every game since the start of November as they round off their 2022 fixtures.
