Two arrested at suspected cannabis factory in Amesbury

Neighbourhood officers, supported by CID and specialist officers, carried out a drugs warrant at an industrial estate in Amesbury this morning (17th November 2022).

Officers located a suspected cannabis factory in a unit at the Beacon Centre, with approximately 500 plants in various states of cultivation.

A man in his 30s and a teenage boy, who were found at the address, have been arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs. They are currently in police custody.

  • Two people were arrested following a warrant
  • Approximately 500 suspected cannabis plants found
  • Officers remain at the scene to gather evidence

Colleagues from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service attended in support to ensure the safety of officers attending the scene.

Officers are expected to remain at the scene until at least tomorrow while the scene is made safe and evidence gathered.

Inspector Tina Osborn said: “This was an excellent example of teamwork in response to information supplied by members of the public. It appears that a significant quantity of Class B drugs have been cultivated at this location which will now be removed from circulation.

“Drugs blight our communities and cultivation, and dealing is linked to exploitation of vulnerable people and other crimes. We rely on members of the community to act as our eyes and ears. We would urge anyone with concerns about possible drug dealing to report it to us as a priority.”
