The Old Mill is to reopen under new management

The Old Mill Hotel in Harnham is due to reopen later this summer after new owners were announced yesterday (2nd August 2022).

The Harris family, who are also currently renovating The Boat House Restaurant and Bar in Salisbury, have taken on new ownership of the venue.

The Old Mill, alongside The Cathedral Hotel on Milford Street, Salisbury, closed last month (Juky 2022) after the company that previously owned the pub went into administration.

Collectively, the Harris Family own the award-winning pub and hotel, The Stag in Lyndhurst.

A spokesperson said, “The family, together with their executive chef and management team, will be introducing a brand new exciting menu, a welcoming atmosphere and tailored drinks menu, with plans to reopen within 8 weeks.

“A full refurbishment is planned for January 2023, where we will see this beautiful riverside building come back to life. The renovations will include all hotel rooms, bar areas and restaurant spaces.”

Local residents took to social media to share their excitement that the popular Salisbury venue is set to reopen.

One Facebook user wrote, “This is wonderful news. Salisbury is wide open and waiting for a gorgeous, gourmet pub and you couldn’t have a more lovely location. Wishing you all the best and look forward to eating there!”

Another said, “Fantastic thank you for taking it on and bringing it back to life.”

Eleanor Wills, the newly elected Salisbury City Councillor for Harnham West commented, “The Old Mill is a local landmark and it’s brilliant news to hear that the pub is not just opening later this summer but getting much-needed investment as well.

“So many residents have told me how sad they were to hear it had closed so this will be a great boost.”

Dan Collins, Business Manager for Salisbury BID told Love Salisbury, “It is really positive news for Salisbury that both the Boathouse and Old Mill are reopening. The Boathouse is in an area that is undergoing major development with the ongoing Riverpark project and this will help with its rejuvenation.”

Steve Harris from the Harris Family and SteRee Group Limited added, “We are all very excited about the opening of the Old Mill. We are near on completion for the Boathouse with a date of opening of the 31st August and then we start again on The Old Mill.

“We have been shortlisted down to the final two for the National Pub of the year South for our establishment in Lyndhurst and we aim to mirror the standards and service in Salisbury.”
