Salisbury Reds to increase some fares

Salisbury Reds have announced increased fares, with the changes starting to take effect on Monday 14th of November.

The bus company blame a significant rise in the cost of running their services. It means they have had to review the cost of their fares and came to a ‘reluctant’ decision to increase some ticket prices.

In a statement on their social media, they said:

This is not a decision we have taken lightly. We have kept any prices rises to a minimum and some fares are not changing at all. Most of the changes will happen on Monday 14 November, except for our explorer tickets and network tickets, which will increase on Monday 21 November.

Bus users are advised to use the Salisbury Reds app to find the best-value tickets. Those that buy singles or day riders are recommended to tap on and off using contactless, paperless ticketing.

Single fares are rising by between 10p and 30p whilst return journeys will rise by between 20p and 60p.

The fare increases coincide with a change to some Salisbury Red timetables.

Some route 87 journeys are renumbered 88 and therefore rerouted away from London Road via Laverstock instead.

On journeys that are rerouted, any passengers boarding on London Road should use the PR7 instead.

Students from London Road travelling to South Wilts Grammar School should use the PR7 changing in the City Centre to the 08.25 service X5 from Blue Boar OR the 08.34 Service 2 from Castle Street Tesco.

  • 07.28 (school day) and 07.33 (school holiday) service 87 from Lopcombe Corner renumbered 88
  • 15.52 (school day) and 16.00 (school holiday) service 87 from South Wilts Grammar School & City Centre renumbered to 88. Bishop Wordsworth pupils should use the stops in Brown Street or Catherine Street instead of Exeter Street
  • 15.38 (school holiday journey) service 87 from Winterslow Gunville to City Centre renumbered 88

On Red 5, the 23.00 journey on Mondays to Fridays and Saturdays will now call at Salisbury District Hospital (The Green) to drop off and pick up instead of being on request only. Additionally, this journey will continue beyond New Canal to Blue Boar Row, arriving at 23:28
