Salisbury band to headline Oakstock Festival

Oakstock festival will replace Pewsey’s annual carnival this year with a day of live music at the Royal Oak on Saturday 21st August 2021.

Organised by the landlord of the Royal Oak, and one of the owners of Salisbury’s Tunnel Rat Recording Studios, Eddie Prestige, the festival will host the UK’s only Rag’n’Bone Man tribute act, alongside Salisbury favourites Illingworth.

There will be 10 acts performing on the day with other acts from Salisbury including Becca Maule, Signature Vision, and Tom Piper.

Tickets are ÂŁ29.50 for an adult, ÂŁ15.50 per child and ÂŁ75 for a family ticket, which you can purchase here.

Speaking to Love Salisbury, Eddie said: “People come all over the country for the carnival so we are trying to create an atmosphere in the village and for people to come together again.

“It’s great for local musicians as it gets them good exposure, experience, and a chance to perform alongside some big acts.”

Martyn was inspired to host the festival in lockdown on a dark winter’s night.

“I feel it is so important for everyone to be able to get back to normal and have a local day out supporting local businesses, communities and artists.

“As many people are not going abroad for summer, it is a great chance to do something different and enjoy some music in a festival atmosphere in the pub’s pretty garden,” commented Martyn.

Having taken over the pub in July 2020, Martyn has had to face the ever-changing challenges of opening a pub during the pandemic.

“I am incredibly proud of his hard work and dedication to creating a successful pub, especially during a pandemic. The festival is so important for the entire village, I hope it will bring lots of people to the village which will be an immense support to all the local businesses here,” said Martyn’s partner Louise Appleby.

The Royal Oak and Oakstock will be supporting the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
