LIVE: Votes are counted for Wiltshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner election

The votes for Swindon and Wiltshire’s second Police and Crime Commissioner are currently being counted.

The need for a second election comes after the candidate elected in May, Jonathon Seed, was disqualified for a previous drink driving conviction.

Police Area Returning Officer, Terence Herbert, has confirmed the overall turnout for the Police and Crime Commissioner election for Wiltshire and Swindon is 16.63% with 91,553 votes.


Each ballot has a first and second choice. The first choice votes are now being counted.


The first preference results from Swindon are in, with Philip Wilkinson (Conservative) leading with 9,172 votes.


Each ballot paper had a first and second choice vote. The first choice votes are counted first. If no candidate reaches over 50% of the vote, the two with the most votes from the combined totals of Wilts and Swindon go through to the second stage.
