A real-life mermaid is coming to Salisbury tomorrow

A real-life mermaid will be appearing in Salisbury this weekend to show off her tail and tell her story.

After cutting her hand on plastic while diving in Indonesia, Lindsey Cole swam the river Thames as a mermaid to raise awareness of plastic pollution.

During the 200-mile swim, Lindsey came across a drowning cow. She kept swimming while her mother and support canoeist called the emergency services who rescued the cow from the water.

Now, Linsdey has turned her story into a children’s book.

The Mermaid and the Cow is an adventure book based on Lindsey’s true story, which inspires readers to help save mermaids and their friends from plastic pollution.

At 2pm on Saturday 21st August, children and families are free to come and meet Lindsey in her mermaid tail, made of 52 repurposed swimsuits, and hear her story. Lindsey will be appearing at The Maltings play park near Superdrug.
