Fire crews cut person from vehicle after this mornings crash

A person has been cut free from a car this morning (26th July) after a collision just north of Downton on the A338.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7:40 this morning, with three fire crews attending.

The road remains closed between Charlton All Saints and Downton.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: “We were called to Salisbury Road, Downton at 7.40am this morning (Wednesday, July 26) following a two-vehicle road traffic collision. We have three crews on scene,¬†two from Salisbury and one from Fordingbridge, and one casualty has been cut free from their vehicle by firefighters. The incident is ongoing, with police and ambulance also in attendance.”

The incident has caused traffic problems west and south of the Salisbury area, with drivers seeking alternative routes on back roads.

There have been delays on Southampton Road, as people cut across from Downton to Alderbury.
