Action-packed racing at the inaugural Summer Festival

Thruxton will host two days of action-packed racing when the inaugural Summer Festival is held at the Hampshire circuit near Andover at the weekend (29/30 July).

Headlining the meeting will be Caterham and their 270R, 310R, Academy and Roadsport Championships and plenty of activities on offer for families with the dedicated Kids’ Zone.

It is the first time the event is being run at the UK’s fastest race circuit, and it hopes to become a regular fixture as it showcases a jam-packed timetable of club motorsport at its best.

The Caterham Seven races featuring the 270R and 310R championships will delight spectators, with the open-top lightweight sports cars known for their agility and handling. The Caterham Academy is designed for competitors new to motorsport, giving them a chance to develop their skills behind the wheel of a 125bhp Ford Sigma-powered road-legal race car. The Roadsport series is the next step up the Caterham ladder from the Academy, featuring slightly more advanced machines.

Future stars will also be battling it out across the tarmac as the Junior Saloon Car Championships, the UK’s leading Junior series, which features drivers aged between 14 to 17 behind the wheels of production-spec Citroen Saxos, makes its first-ever visit to Thruxton.

Also in action will be the Track Attack Race Club with its budget-friendly racing that caters for all saloons, coupes, or sports cars and Classic and Modern Motorsport Club with a variety of touring and classic cars.

There will also be plenty to do off the circuit too, with The Kids’ Zone featuring a bouncy castle, face painting and other activities. Free camping is available and live music will provide a soundtrack to the weekend.

Tickets are available online via the Thruxton website, www.thruxtonracing.co.uk, with the gates at Thruxton opening at 8 am on both days.

Adult tickets are £16 on Saturday, £18 on Sunday, or a weekend ticket costs £32.

Children 15 and under accompanied by an adult (max five children per responsible adult) are admitted to the circuit and paddock (providing the responsible adult is still accompanying them) free of charge.

Tickets are available for the grandstand but are separate tickets and do not allow admission to the circuit.

Children aged five and under are permitted to sit on a parent/guardian’s lap and are therefore admitted free of charge. For further information, please visit www.thruxtonracing.co.uk.
