This year’s Winter Solstice celebrations at Stonehenge are set to be damp and cloudy.
Many people will once again gather at the ancient stone circle just outside Durrington and Amesbury for the shortest day of the year.
This year, the weather forecast is not looking favourable, with rain and cloud looking likely for those gathering for the second time this year.
Those who don’t fancy getting cold and wet can watch on from the comfort of their homes, as once again, the team at Stonehenge will be live streaming the sunrise.

Thursday, 22nd December, is the date of this year’s winter solstice and marks the shortest day of the year and when the sun will be lowest on the horizon. The good news being the days start getting longer again on Friday!
Admission is free of charge. Entry to the monument will be from approximately 07:45 am (or when it is light enough to enter safely) until 10:00 am.
All vehicles must vacate the car parks by 11 am.
English Heritage also warns that access to Stonehenge might not be possible if the ground conditions are poor or if it is considered that access might result in severe damage to the monument.
