Winchester Gate to host family-friendly theatre programme

Live music and arts pub, The Winchester Gate, Salisbury, has devised a programme of family shows this Easter.

The programme, beginning on 18th April (Easter Monday), will include a range of theatre for all ages, with puppets, sounds, colourful costumes and exciting characters.

On Monday 18th April, Noisy Oyster Theatre Company will perform Plain Bob, an innocent and gentle show with no words, performed with mime, music, and sound effects.

As the audience watch, Bob’s world is created under an umbrella from suitcases and a raincoat. Audience members are then invited onto the stage to help Bob with his simple tasks.

Saturday 7th May, local bestselling children’s author and illustrator Kristina Stephenson returns with her stage adaptation of the best selling book “Mystical Maps and Magical Monsters”. With puppets, props, puzzles, songs, surprises and the chance to make your own magical monster puppet, this is a fun-filled interactive family event. Suitable for ages 3+.

On Monday 30th May, Cat and Hutch productions bring two stories to life, with A Woodland Adventure (Suitable for ages 2 – 6) at 11am and My Father’s Dragon (fun for all the family!) at 2pm.

General Manager Jamie Lillycrop said, “We recently hosted two family events and have been completely blown away with the positive responses. We’d love more families to join us for these shows in our safe, friendly environment.”

Tickets for all of the performances are available from thewinchestergate.com.

A range of family-friendly drinks and snacks will be available, including drinks, healthy lunches and homemade cakes.
