What do you think about local housing? Here’s your chance to have your say

Next month, Salisbury residents will be able to have their say on the draft Neighbourhood Plan for the city.

The Neighbourhood Plan covers a range of important topics, the most controversial of which is housing – the types of properties that people need, and where they should go.

Annie Riddle, Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group Chairman said, “If we don’t want all of our green fields developed we have to come up with other options, because the government sets building targets that simply have to be met. The question is whether they are met with the type of development that actually responds to local needs.”

Volunteers from the community have worked on this draft plan alongside City Councillors for more than three years, they have identified some possible sites and want to find out what the public thinks about them. There will be a lot of detail about them in the Plan when it is launched on 28th June 2022.

In the meantime, a short paper called Let’s Talk About Housing has been published on the City Council website here.

“I urge everyone who is interested in the future prosperity of our city to take a look,” added Annie.
