WATCH: The lighting of the Jubilee Beacon at Old Sarum

Last night, (Thursday 2nd June 2022), the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon was lit at Old Sarum to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s historic 70 years of service.

The ceremony was attended by Salisbury City councillors, Wiltshire councillors, Salisbury’s MP, John Glen, Deputy Lieutenant Dr Phil Harding and 70 residents who were picked at random by the Mayor of Salisbury.

Salisbury City Council’s official Town Crier, Jeff Hutchby, who wore a traditional uniform and read from a scroll, announced the lighting of the jubilee beacon in celebration of Her Majesty The Queen.

Over 1,500 Platinum Jubilee Beacons were lit across the UK and Commonwealth yesterday, continuing Royal tradition.
