Walk of Stars recipients gather to celebrate

Salisbury now has a Walk of Stars, celebrating local people nominated for their work and volunteering efforts in the community.

Craig Hicks and Andy Munns were joined on the edge of Salisbury’s Market Place for a short celebration and opening of the Walk of Stars, joined by many of the recipients, their friends and families.

There was a feeling of celebration and thanks for those who help make others’ lives better, either through the course of their work, volunteering or going the extra mile in their own communities.

The stars will be on the pavement until the end of December for all to enjoy in recognition of those nominated by Salisbury Radio listeners and other people in our local community.

Anna Wilson, NHS Hero on this year’s Walk of Stars, told Salisbury Radio, “I feel very privileged and honoured to have been nominated for a star. I work with many wonderful people who give their everything to save lives, care and look after people every day.

“Being non-clinical, I have the responsibility in the background to support the nursing and medical staff, who are all amazing, during my time both in the emergency department and the intensive care unit.

“I have had the pleasure of making a difference to patients and relatives, either making them a drink or sitting with them when they are distressed or just need someone to be there for them, it’s always a pleasure, and I am surrounded by the most wonderful teams throughout the whole of the hospital.

“We are an extended family; if I can help anyone I will always do my best, my nature is to care for people, and I’m very proud to have been given this star, so thank you.”
