VIDEOS: Coronation in Salisbury

Salisbury celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III in style this weekend through a series of events.

A busy Salisbury Cathedral saw Salisbury’s community come together to watch the ceremony in the naive. The huge screen providing the perfect viewing for a few hundred people.

The weather didn’t dampen the spirits, although Swing Unlimited had to perform in the Cloisters rather than outside.

Then on Sunday, The Big Lunch in Lizzy Gardens drew a huge crowd. The event was the first of a three organised by Salisbury City Council.

There was Punch and Judy, a steel band and lots of other things for families to see and do.

The second was the Big Gig in Salisbury Market place, where thousands gathered for live music with The Deloreans headlining.

Estimates place the crowd of over 3,000 people crammed into the square with a joyful atmosphere.

Finally, on the Bank Holiday Monday, The Big Help Out took place in Salisbury’s Market Place with Salisbury Food Bank, Salisbury Pantry and St Michael’s Community Fridge collecting food.

There were also numerous volunteer-led community groups looking for more volunteers and talking about their fantastic work.

Around 60 crates full of food which will be distributed locally, were donated on the day.
