Hundreds of people gathered to support Salisbury Hospice Charity and raise over £26K at the annual Open Garden at Hatch House.
On Saturday, 2nd September 2023, hundreds gathered at the beautiful Hatch House set in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside for an Open Garden and sale, by kind permission by Sir Henry and Lady Rumbold and organised by the fabulous Tisbury Fundraising Committee, supported by many family and friends.
The Country House Gardens include an exquisite 17th-century walled Dutch garden with two lawn tiers framed by herbaceous borders and incredible views across the Vale of Wardour.
A swarm of visitors were delighted to find a selection of marquees filled with beautiful vintage and designer pre-loved clothes as well as rows of shoes, hats, bags and jewellery.
The gardens were full of amazing finds with the edition of the popular men’s clothes marquee. There was something for everything from clothes to antiques, collectables and household effects, soft toys, books and a raffle.
Visitors enjoyed cakes, teas, local bread, Compton McRae BBQ, Pimms, and Ice Cream in the beautiful surroundings, listening to local vocalist Charlie Greenwood perform a repertoire of Jazz and Soul.
The Hospice will further benefit from unsold items, as the stock is shared between a local charity, Alabaré and The Hospice Shop, which is shared with Dorothy House in Salisbury.
Lady Rumbold had the following to say: “I am struck dumb by the generosity of everyone giving TIME, to make this event succeed, the most precious of all things in this life.”
Tamsin Murley, Community fundraiser for Salisbury Hospice Charity, added: “I am delighted to announce the huge fundraising total for this event and express our huge gratitude to the Tisbury Committee, Sir Henry & Lady Rumbold and their family, together with the Tisbury Fundraising Committee and all the many volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event an extraordinary success.
“The continued support shown by Sir Henry & Lady Rumbold is phenomenal, and they are without doubt the heart and soul of this event.”
