The Salisbury Poisonings drama is trending on Netflix

The Salisbury Poisonings drama was added to Netflix last week and is now trending as the third most-watched in the UK today (20th December 2021).

The fact-based drama from the BBC uses first-hand accounts and extensive interviews to tell the story of those involved in the 2018 Novichok poisoning in the city of Salisbury.

The three-part series opens with the poisoning of the Russian double agent Sergi Skripal and his daughter Yulia. Following the lives of those involved in the response to the attack, the BBC says, “the dramatisation focuses on the extraordinary heroism shown by the local community.”

Starring Rafe Spall as DS Nick Bailey, the first detective on the scene who was left fighting for his life; Anne-Marie Duff as Tracy Daszkiewicz, the Director of Public Health and Safety for Wiltshire whose work prevented what could have been an even more detrimental effect on the people of Salisbury; and MyAnna Buring as Dawn Sturgess, who sadly lost her life after coming into contact with the nerve agent.

Those watching the drama for the first time on Netflix have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the unprecedented national emergency.
