The Salisbury Music Awards are back

Salisbury’s postponed 2020 Music Awards are finally taking place on Saturday, 31st July 2021, at The Winchester Gate.

The evening will see Salisbury’s finest musicians take to the stage to collect prizes voted for by the public.

The event promises to showcase the city’s talent with a line-up including:

Flow & Hustle, Acrustic Badger Band, Pugwall, Next Stop Olympus, Echoes, Vatican Romp, and Jack Card.

Event organiser Thom Belk said, “The limited events that have taken place since 2019’s ceremony have showcased a real hotbed of talent in Salisbury.

“I feel it’s important to honour the hardworking artists for their great work, which often goes unnoticed. Original bands regularly miss out on the big local shows, falling behind cover bands in the pecking order – so the music awards are a chance for the music scene to come together.”

Voting is open until midnight on Friday, 30th July 2021, and you can cast your vote here.

Categories for the awards are:

Best Band 2020
Best Live Band sponsored by Sounds of Salisbury Podcast
Best Guitarist sponsored by Lamb Engineering
Best Lead Singer sponsored by Lamb Engineering
Best Bassist sponsored by Andrea Penna Photography
Best Drummer sponsored by Lamb Engineering
Best Female Solo Performer sponsored by Salisbury Gig Guide
Best Male Solo Performer
Best Covers Band sponsored by Huntsman Tavern
Best New Band
Best Young Band sponsored by Rose Gale Trust

Echoes

Echoes, a young band from Salisbury, are nominated for four awards including Best Band 2020, Best Live Band, Best New Band, and Best Young Band.

“We are really shocked. We are quite a new band so we didn’t expect to be nominated for any awards! It is really nice to be recognised in Salisbury and we are really grateful to everyone who has helped us out so far.

“We are looking forward to performing on Saturday and meeting some new people and other bands from Salisbury too,” said Tom Armstrong, the band’s drummer.

Tickets are £7 and can be purchased here.
