December is just around the corner, and it’s time to dust off the baubles, untangle the Christmas lights and put elves in crazy situations around our homes.
Salisbury Radio is celebrating the festive season with the return of Song for Christmas.
Over the next three weeks, Salisbury Radio is visiting 17 primary schools in the local area to record each school’s song.
They are recording a mix of original Christmas classics and chart toppers; there may even be a few original numbers.
The day each song is played on the radio, it will become available for download; each song will cost £1 – with all the proceeds going to Salisbury Hospice Charity.
We will be visiting the following 17 schools:

- Bemerton St John Primary School
- Dinton Primary School
- Downton Primary School
- Durrington Junior School
- Harnham Junior School
- Manor Fields Primary School
- Old Sarum Primary School
- Pembroke Park Primary School
- Pitton Primary School
- Sarum St Paul’s Primary School
- St Peters Primary School
- Wilton Primary School
- Winterbourne Earls Primary School
- Winterslow Primary School
- Woodlands Primary School
- Wyndham Park Infant School
We have put together a fine panel of judges that includes; Joy Wagstaff and Anne Munns – both of whom are ex-Salisbury-based Head Teachers, Ruth Jones, who works for Wiltshire Music Connect and plays bass in the local covers band The Zucchinis and Salisbury’s Mayor, Cllr Tom Corbin.
They will judge the songs ‘blind’, not knowing which school has performed each track and pick a winning song. That school will win £200 in book vouchers and a trophy, thanks to our friends at Guyatts of Salisbury.
