Salisbury will soon have a new mayor

On Saturday 14 May, Cllr Tom Corbin will become the 761st The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Salisbury.

At the Mayor Making ceremony, the Mayoral chain will be handed over from Cllr Caroline Corbin to Cllr Tom Corbin.

A Civic Procession of visiting Mayors from neighbouring towns and cities, local dignitaries and invited guests will leave the Guildhall in procession via Fish Row, Butchers Row, Minster Street and into St. Thomas’s Church at approximately 10.20am with a fanfare played by the Shrewton Silver Band.

The official Mayor Making Service and Full Council meeting of Salisbury City Council will take place in St Thomas’s Church at 10.30am.

There will be an official handover of the Mayoral Chain by the outgoing Mayor to the new Mayor of the City of Salisbury during this meeting.

The Civic Party will then make their way from St. Thomas’s Church via St Thomas Square and Blue Boar Row to the Guildhall for a private reception.

Alongside the Charter Market in the Market Place, there will also be music and activities from 10am – 4pm in the Guildhall Square throughout the day including a free children’s workshop in front of the War Memorial.
