Salisbury slip to defeat against Harrow

Brian Dutton’s Salisbury slipped to a disappointing defeat at the Ray Mac on Saturday against relegation-threatened Harrow Borough.

The Whites had already secured their play-off spot following their win away at Plymouth Parkway on Thursday evening, and two games in three days was always going to be tough.

Two first-half goals gave Harrow their victory at the Ray Mac as all sides in the top 5 dropped points, with only Merthyr Town gaining a single point.

Dutton made two changes to the side which won 1-0 against Plymouth, with Josh Sommmerton and Aaron McCreadie making way for Aaron Simpson and Richard Mcintyre coming into the side.

Salisbury got off to a bright start and could have taken the lead in the first minute, but Noah Coppin could only drag his effort wide after being put in on goal.

The game settled down at a slower pace, with both sides trying to control possession until Salisbury threatened again midway through the half.

Simpson crossed the ball, finding Coppin, but the Salisbury forward could only head straight at Tyler Tobin in the Harrow goal.

Salisbury had claims for a penalty when he was fouled in the box on 31 minutes, but the referee waved away the claims.

Harrow took the lead just four minutes later when Toby Nnadozie scored the first goal of the game, and the second followed just four minutes later.

Harry Seabrook scored Harrow’s second of the game, giving the Whites an uphill battle as they headed into the second half.

The away side set up not to concede, dropping deep often playing with six at the back but it was Harrow who created the better chances with Gosney having to make a couple of saves, one of which to deny Harrow from the penalty spot just on the hour mark.

Salisbury thought they had a foothold in the game on 67 minutes, but the referee ruled the goal out for a push in the back.

It was one of those days for Salisbury where they couldn’t take their chances.

Because of the results around them, Salisbury remain in third in the table with only two games remaining.

First up is a trip to Hayes & Yeading on Saturday, 20th April, before Hanwell, who are the visitors for the final game of the regular season on Saturday, 27th April. Both kick-offs are at 3 pm.
