Salisbury Pride told to vacate Progress venue

Salisbury Pride CIC have released a statement following a letter from solicitors informing them of notice to vacate the premises and termination of their licence.

The organisation received the letter, dated 7th February 2023, that states that the venues licence, which began in October 2022, will be terminated.

The group have been instructed that the licence on 17th February 2023, and they must ensure the property is vacated by this date, with all of their contents being removed.

The statement from Pride CIC said:

It brings us great sadness and anger that today (08/02/2023) we have been given notice to terminate our Licence on 17th February 2023 ,from Elite Law Solicitors acting on behalf of their client D`Ouro Properties Limited. Salisbury Pride UK CIC has been asked to be vacated by the above date with all our contents removed from the property.

“This has all escalated from a recent visit from Wiltshire Council enforcement team stating the type of business class the premises is registered under and that we are not following the rules as trading as a “Restaurant”. We are now seeking legal advice.

“Progress CafĂ© & Bar is a trading name under Salisbury Pride UK CIC. Since the first day of opening we have always served food, played recorded music in which we are licensed to by PRS and serve alcoholic beverages which we also are licensed to do.

“We are asking members of the community to come forward by sending us supporting letters to evidence that Progress is a warm and welcoming inclusive safe space for everyone and that we should remain.

“We hope to remain and be back in Salisbury and to continue to deliver our community project. Follow us on our socials for the latest @progresscafebar!”

If you wish to support Salisbury Pride, they are asking that letters are emailed to hello@progressbarsalisbury.co.uk or hello@salisburyprideuk.org
