Salisbury FC to begin tough away game schedule

Top of the table, Salisbury FC face a tough run of three away games starting tomorrow (2nd December) with a trip to South Wales.

The Whites are currently on a seven-game winning streak which has seen them rise to the top of the table, where they currently have a three-point advantage over second-placed Chesham United.

They have made a habit of scoring late winners, which has seen them pick up a good haul of points heading into December.

This weekend sees them travel to South Wales to face a Merthyr Town side who have also had a great start to the season and currently sit fourth in the league, though they have gone off the boil a little recently with four defeats in their last six games.

The most recent of those came on Tuesday evening as they were beaten at home by Matt Tubbs’ Poole Town in a two-nil loss.

Brian Dutton and his side travel to the Loadlok Community Stadium in a confident mood, their 3-2 win against Dorchester Town bringing up seven straight victories and unbeaten in the league for the two calendar months.

Dutton is expecting a tough week, with away fixtures to follow against Poole Town on Tuesday (5th December) and Walton and Hersham next Saturday (9th December).

He told the club website, “It’s going a real testing week to be a proper football week, but we’re in good spirits. We look forward to it and three different challenges. You just can’t write these lads off, so we look forward to it.”

There was a departure from the Ray Mac this week as forward Sam Ashton left the club by mutual consent, with Dutton saying, “I would like to thank Sam for his efforts, and I wish him well wherever he decides to play his Football next.
