Salisbury FC return to winning ways

Brian Dutton’s Salisbury side got back to winning ways last night with a 3-1 away win at Hartley Wintney.

The Whites were three goals to the good inside 12 minutes thanks to a lightning-fast start and goals from Nassim Kherbouche, Josh Carmichael and Jerry Lawrence.

The first two goals came in similar fashion when both Kherbouche and Carmichael were on the receiving end of excellent deliveries from corners. It was Kerbouche first after 2 minutes before 6 minutes later, Carmichael doubled the away team’s advantage.

It only took three more minutes to add their 3rd when on 11 minutes, Lawrence applied the finishing touch to some good build-up play with Devon Arnold.

Salisbury were cruising at this point and enjoying plenty of possession until a momentarily lapse gave Hartley Wintney a glimmer of hope.

A long ball forward from the keeper skipped off the surface, leaving the defence flat-footed. Kingsley Eshun rounded Gerard Benfield in the Salisbury goal to cooly finish on 32 minutes.

This seemed to lift the home side, but they could not add to their tally before halftime.

Although not creating many clear-cut chances, Salisbury managed to keep the home side at arm’s length, for the most part, controlling the game well.

This frustrated the Hartley Wintney players, who could not trouble the score any further. This frustration then bubbled over when Akers was sent off for a poor challenge in stoppage time.

Salisbury travel to Harrow Borough for their next fixture this Saturday (26th November), with the Rac Mac-based side now sitting 9th in the league.

A reminder that the BlueBee bar will be open for the England V USA world cup fixture on Friday (25th Nov), doors open from 6:15 for the 7 pm kick-off.
