After years of speculation and months of anticipation, Salisbury finally has a Primark from today.
When asked what Salisbury needed to improve as a shopping destination, Primark has been one of the most called-for things amongst locals. The Salisbury Journal even ran April Fools articles about it, but now it’s here!
Primark announced its plans to open up in the building in the Old George Mall, which had sat empty since BHS had vacated it, in June last year.
Primark said the new store will bring the full Primark offering to Salisbury, and customers can look forward to shopping the brand’s extensive range of clothing, kidswear, beauty, lifestyle and home.
A ceremony will be to mark the shop’s opening this morning at 9:30 am, with doors opening at 10 am and a DJ welcoming shoppers.
Store manager Christopher Carter is excited to welcome shoppers to the two-floor shop. “The wait is finally over! From my days as a department manager in the Bournemouth store to now leading the team opening Primark Salisbury, this is an exciting moment in my Primark career, and I am thrilled that we are now officially open.
I’m extremely proud of everyone who has played a part in bringing this store to life, and I can’t wait for our Salisbury customers to see what we have in store for them.”

Marking a £6m investment, the opening has led to the creation of more than 100 jobs and brings some of Primark’s newest store features to Salisbury, including self-service checkouts.
Its opening means that for the first time, Salisbury shoppers will be able to snap up Primark’s popular ranges of everyday essentials and latest trends across women’s, men’s and kidswear, as well as beauty and home.
Rita Ora collection
From next Tuesday, 19th September, shoppers will also be able to get their hands on Primark’s first collection in collaboration with Rita Ora, the news of which was revealed yesterday.
Retailer Primark is teaming up with global superstar and style icon Rita Ora to launch a new multi-season fashion collaboration which will allow Primark customers to shop her famous style for less.
Following a weekend of speculation sparked by Primark’s window black-out across its entire store estate, Primark unveiled Rita Ora x Primark: a versatile new fashion line almost two years in the making.
All pieces are designed to become wardrobe staples that can be loved, worn and shared season after season – a theme which will run throughout the partnership. The collaboration fuses Rita’s love of fashion with Primark’s 50+ year history of providing quality essentials and the latest trends at the very best value on the high street.
Commenting on the partnership, Rita Ora said, “Throughout my life, I have always wanted to look stylish, and when I was younger, I couldn’t have done that without Primark. I could always stretch my budget with so many great pieces from Primark. Honestly, that is really when I learned how to get creative and play with fashion. Creating this collection with Primark has been very nostalgic for me, and I can’t wait for the world to see it!”
Primark Salisbury is the retailer’s 192nd store in the UK, its first new store in England in over two years and comes as part of Primark’s £140m investment in UK retail.
