Police Appeal for Witnesses Following High-Speed Pursuit in the South County

Authorities are appealing for witnesses after a dramatic police pursuit took place in the southern region of the county. The incident occurred at approximately 9:20 pm on Bank Holiday Monday (May 29) when officers observed a silver Lexus travelling excessively through a residential area in Wilton.

The pursuit commenced in Shaftesbury Road, Wilton, and continued through Salisbury on the A36 before eventually reaching the M27 and concluding in Southampton around 9:50 pm. During the chase, the driver’s erratic behavior raised concerns among law enforcement officers.

A man in his 50s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug driving and dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

Sergeant Ben Brewster is leading the investigation and is urging anyone who witnessed the manner of driving or was directly affected by the actions of the pursued vehicle to come forward. The incident took place on Bank Holiday Monday evening and Sgt. Brewster is particularly interested in hearing from individuals who were driving in Wilton, Salisbury, or on the M27 towards Southampton between 9:20 pm and 9:50 pm.

“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the pursuit or observed the vehicle’s driving to contact us,” Sgt. Brewster stated. He also emphasized the significance of obtaining dashcam footage, urging anyone who captured any part of the pursuit on their devices to provide it to the police. Such evidence could greatly assist in the ongoing investigation.
