Girlguiding South West England ambassador, Jenny, carries out their first activity for the region at their first office open day in Salisbury.
In March 2023, Girlguiding South West England launched their Region ambassador programme – a voluntary scheme designed to help the youth organisation raise awareness about the charity, support their 11,500 volunteers and help to inspire their 47,000 girls across 16 Counties and Islands.
South West England ambassadors will help shape the Region by sharing their expertise and ensuring we give all girls a chance to be a powerful force for good, helping them know that all girls can do anything.
Jenny, a Rainbow Leader in Dorset, was revealed as a Regional ambassador for South West England in July.
A Somerset-based practice-owning NHS dentist by day, she is passionate about all things to do with health (physical and mental) and Girlguiding and, in her role as an ambassador, hopes to combine the two.
As an ambassador, Jenny will be able to open her practice for local visits, helping girls to feel less nervous at the dentist and allowing them to ask questions in a safe environment, as well as do talks about dentistry as a career, healthy eating and lifestyle choices and roles more generally within the wider NHS.
On Wednesday, 9th August, Jenny visited the South West England office in Salisbury as part of their first office open day event and held a Q&A session with around 25 girls and leaders.
She did an activity to show just how much sugar is in our drinks and answered questions about how to keep both the teeth and body healthy.
These girls were the first to receive Jenny’s exclusive bespoke ambassador badge – part of a set that members can collect after meeting with each of the Region’s other ambassadors – including the Rear Admiral in the Royal Navy, a football coach, former Olympian and YouTuber.
The Region will announce and launch its other fantastic ambassadors over the next six months, including a children’s author, a local politician, and an Earth Scientist.
