New Head of College for Salisbury 6th Form

Salisbury 6th Form College has announced a new Head of College today (31st August 2022).

Ben Hillier has taken over from Louise Henderson, who has moved to Wyvern St Edmund’s to be the new Headteacher of the Laverstock school.

Ben Hillier was previously Deputy Headteacher at Shaftesbury School. Speaking on his appointment as Head of College, Sarah Busby, CEO for Magna Learning Partnership said, “Ben has a wealth of experience in both leadership and in post-16 teaching. His subject specialism is Biology and he has taught that subject, together with Chemistry at A Level for many years.

“Ben will work very closely with Louise and the senior leadership team to ensure a smooth transition for September and also to continue to develop the close collaboration between S6C and Wyvern St Edmund’s.”

Mr Hillier commented, “The start of the summer term is always an exciting time in any college, but being a new Head brings with it an added sense of anticipation for the new academic year.

“I know I joined S6C (Salisbury 6th Form College) at an exciting time, having just
gained some excellent results in both academic and vocational courses, for example at A-level we have a pass rate at over 99% which is hugely impressive considering what this cohort of students has been through during COVID.

“For myself, I was certainly attracted to work at a college that not only focuses on the academic but also the pastoral development of students. The college ethos of ‘It’s all about you’ can be felt throughout the staff and student body.

“I have no doubt that these are just some of the factors that have led to a strong enrollment for this coming academic year on our broad range of courses. Some subjects are already fully subscribed but we do have some space left in areas such as Physics, Maths and Esports. I would encourage any prospective students to look at the college website and apply as soon as possible.”
