More than 2,000 people engage with Local Plan events– as consultation continues

While Wiltshire Council’s Local Plan consultation is open for a few weeks, until Wednesday, 22nd November, all consultation engagement events have been completed, with more than 1,200 people attending in-person events around the county.

The council held 16 in-person drop-in events at different venues throughout Wiltshire over the past three weeks, plus an online webinar event to enable people to find out more about the Plan, ask questions and find out how to respond to the consultation.

Cllr Nick Botterill, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, said: “The Local Plan is the most important place-shaping document for Wiltshire, and we know just how important the right growth and developments are to our communities. That’s why we held these events – for everyone to have the opportunity to attend, find out more, and ultimately let us know what they think about the Plan.

“We’re delighted that more than 1,200 people attended the drop-in events and asked questions, with another 300 attending the webinar – and over 500 watching the webinar online after the event so far.

“To hold 16 in-person events over three weeks is a huge effort, and I’d like to pay tribute to our officers who have worked hard to give our communities the opportunity to engage with the Local Plan.

“For anyone that missed the events, or has not yet submitted their comments, it’s not too late to do so. The consultation is open until Wednesday, 22nd November, so there is still plenty of time to have your say, and people can also catch up with the webinar, which is still available to watch on our website.

“In our Business Plan, we have committed to an effective Local Plan that provides sustainable growth in Wiltshire and addresses the strategic needs of the county – and there is still time for people to let us know what they think of the Plan.”

People can share their views through the council’s online portal, and anyone without internet access can visit a library to use the computers there or contact the council to get a written copy of the representation form and find out how to view the documents.
