Man pleads guilty to the manslaughter of Freddie Fontete-Jones

On Friday, (9th September 2022) a man pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Freddie Fontete-Jones.

Freddie, 23, died following an assault in Salisbury Market Square on 22nd February 2022.

Officers were called to the area at approximately 3am following two 999 calls reporting disorder. When officers arrived, Freddie was unconscious and paramedics were giving first aid. He was taken to hospital and sadly died three days later.

On Friday 9th September, Connor Pool, 24, of Winterbourne Gunner, appeared at Winchester Crown Court and pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Detective Inspector Simon Childe, from the Major Crime Investigation Team, said, “Freddie sustained a traumatic brain injury from which he never recovered.

“While I sadly never got to meet Freddie, I know from just speaking to his family that he was an extremely popular, charismatic and outgoing person who was loved and respected by many.

“I know his loss will be felt for many years to come not just by his family and those who were close to him, but within the wider Salisbury community who were shocked and saddened by this incident.”

Pool has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Winchester court on Thursday 3rd November for sentence.
