Join the Salisbury CCTV team as a volunteer and help make a difference

Salisbury City Council are seeking volunteers to monitor and operate our digital CCTV and radio system.

New volunteers would join this important team at Bourne Hill, monitoring the CCTV system at key times in the communications hub inside the CCTV control room.

They will work with many City partners, including ShopWatch, PubWatch, City wardens, and the Police, to help make our city a safer place to live, work and visit.

Keith Jackson, CCTV Manager, said: “We have recruited and trained many groups of volunteers, and they are doing a great job.

“We are gradually increasing our team and have places on a CCTV Operators course in October which need filling.

“If you have good communication skills, are able to work to a high standard under pressure and are committed to Salisbury’s security and public safety, then we’d love to hear from you.”

Volunteers must be able to commit to 16 hours a month. This is a substantial role which takes a high degree of commitment as there is a lot to learn but it is extremely important and rewarding.

You will be trained to a professional standard and work within a strict code of practice.

Jointly funded by Salisbury City Council and Salisbury BID, Salisbury CCTV has been operating the CCTV system since September 2018, when the system was passed from Wiltshire Council to Salisbury City Council.
