Intrepid trekkers ready to take on The Lost City in Colombia

Lynne Rose and Colin Ford are two of the Stars Appeal trekkers ready to take on the hike to The Lost City in Colombia.

They are part of a team of 37 trekkers who will be walking in 30-degree heat and 90% humidity in the Colombian Rainforest as they raise money for the Stars Appeal.

Like many who are trekking, they have their own personal reasons.

Lynne says, “My darling dad, who sadly passed away four years, he was treated in hospital before his cancer diagnosis and my mum had some treatment there. I wanted to say thank you to them, so I trek in his memory now.

“I also now do it to thank the Stars Appeal for saving the life of my friend and fellow trekker Colin because we have become great friends.”

Colin met Lynne on the Trek to Petra, and both raised around £6,000 for the Stars Appeal. They have since joined forces, combined their fundraising skills, and just broke the £14,000 mark for this trek.

Colin has survived three separate cancer diagnoses and says he wants to do all he can to thank those who saved his life multiple times. He said, “People have just been incredible, it’s humbling. I get quite emotional about it.

“When you know why you are doing it and who you are doing it with, and you reach these targets, it’s quite incredible.”

The Trek to Petra in 2022 raised just over £101,000, helping the Stars Appeal with their work supporting Salisbury District Hospital, providing improved facilities and equipment in their care for patients.

There is still time to sponsor the trekkers and support the Stars Appeal – https://www.justgiving.com/team/collyn
