Hospice gives thanks to businesses for £7k fundraising event

Local businesses have been thanked for helping Salisbury Hospice Charity raise over £7,000 on Friday evening (19th May 2023).

Their very first FUSE (Fun, Ultimate, Social Engagement) event was sponsored by Ambassadors Business Breakfast Club and it took place at The Stones Hotel.

A spokesperson told Salisbury Radio, “The evening surpassed all expectations with over 200 tickets sold in advance. With many local businesses in attendance, showcasing their products and services.

“We are grateful to the new Mayor of Salisbury, Atiqul Hoque for being our special guest of the evening and for choosing Salisbury Hospice Charity as one of his chosen charities for the year.”

Salisbury Radio hosts Craig Hicks and Andy Munns compered the evening which included a silent auction, balloon tombola, competitions, a magician and a fun casino accompanied by live music from ‘The Few’.

Louise Compton, Corporate Fundraiser said, “It was a pleasure to host such a fun evening of entertainment. I am very grateful to everyone who supported us in making this evening a night to remember.

“The evening would have not been possible without the generosity of everyone in the corporate community all working together.

“I would particularly like to mention Carol McGeary, Liz Beveridge and Deanna Dykes who have given up their time to help make the event special and also to the team of volunteers from Nationwide Building Society.

“I am overwhelmed with the amount raised on the evening, every penny will be spent locally and go towards continuing to fund the vital services Salisbury Hospice provides to our community.”

The Charity – which is free to patients, their families and carers – costs £2.9m a year to run.
