Horatio’s Garden, South West at Salisbury District Hospital, is to open to the public to support the National Garden Scheme.
The garden is normally a private garden for the use of patients of the Spinal Clinic and those affected by a spinal injury.
The garden will be open to the public for a day on Sunday 2nd of July, three hours from 2 pm.
The garden is a beautiful, accessible, restorative garden and was created by award-winning designer Cleve West.
There will be refreshments, cake, and plenty of plants chosen for the charity’s ‘Best in Show’ garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on Sale.
The garden was the first Horatio’s Garden to be created, and it opened in September 2012. It was built from donations given in memory of Horatio Chapple, the inspiration behind the charity. Since then, the charity has grown, planting hope in NHS spinal injury centres across the UK.
The garden features low limestone walls, representing the spine’s form and dividing densely planted herbaceous beds. Everything is carefully designed to benefit patients and their loved ones throughout their long stays in the hospital.
