Here’s what’s on in Salisbury over the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend

The long weekend of royal celebrations for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is just around the corner.

With plenty of events happening in and around the city, here’s a handy guide to what’s on in Salisbury over the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend (Thursday 2nd June 2022 – Sunday 5th June 2022).

Thursday 2nd June 2022
The lighting of the Jubilee Beacon

Salisbury City Council will light the Jubilee Beacon at Old Sarum to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

To have the opportunity to attend the event, residents of Salisbury will need to complete this application form which will then go into a ballot.

70 lucky people will then be picked to attend the beacon lighting with the successful applications contacted by Friday 27 May.

Live at the Farm

The musical River Bourne Community Farm fundraiser in Laverstock is back for 2022 with tribute acts, “The Marley Experience” (Bob Marley), and “Hells Bells” (AC/DC) headlining the evening.

New to 2022 is a second stage – The Salisbury Live stage – which will have excellent local talent performing including Gypsy Jukebox, Signature Vision, Train to Skaville, and Pyeshoppe to name a few.

There will be a variety of food and drink vendors plus bouncy castles and face-painting for the children. Adult tickets are £11 and tickets for children are £3.30 – tickets can be purchased here.

Wilton Jubilations
A free three-day event will take place in Wilton for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Expect a pub Quiz, tree planting with Lord Pembroke, a family barn dance, Decades Disco and a Jubilee Family Fun Day on Saturday 4th June. See the full programme below.

City Encounters
As part of the Salisbury International Arts Festival lineup, Wiltshire Creative will once again be bringing their City Encounters performances to the city centre over the Jubilee weekend.

In the Old George Mall, you’ll find the ‘Big Gay Disco Bike’. Drag icon Fatt Butcher takes to the streets of Salisbury on a golden disco bike for a feel-good pop-up disco.

Big Gay Disco Bike is suitable for all ages and the show involves some audience participation and music throughout.

In the Market Place, you’ll find ‘Timeless’, a performance which uses dance, circus and theatre on a 7m high rotating hourglass to tell the story of civilisation as we know it and its fragile relationship with time and nature.

In the Guildhall Square, ‘Look Mum, No Hands!’ tells a tender story about friendship and growing up. The show uses a combination of theatre, movement and acrobatics as a powerful narrative tool.

And finally, in The Maltings you’ll find ‘No Mans Land’ – an outdoor aerial performance that is directed and performed by a monster.
