Here are the best dressed at Salisbury Races Ladies’ Evening

This Friday (20th August) saw the return of Ladies’ Evening to Salisbury Racecourse. As racegoers dressed to impress with fascinators, frills, and fedoras, Love Salisbury spoke to the event’s best dressed to see how they were enjoying the return of the races.

The day saw an afternoon of action-packed racing, followed by live music from the Queen tribute band ‘Majesty’. Pearl Glory retained her unbeaten status in a tight victory against The Organiser. There was an apt winner of the final race at Highclere Castle Gin’s Ladies’ Evening, as Spirit Mixer galloped to victory.

First, we spoke to Katie Welch, Carol Welch and Anita Drummond, who are pictured sporting elegant fascinators, and patterned dresses.

“We love Ladies Day. We come here to the races quite a lot, it’s a nice day out and it’s great to get back to racing,” they said.

Next is Nicki Morgan, Grace Ruddle, Amy Brown, Amy Curtis, a group of care workers dressed to impress while celebrating a long-awaited night out.

“It’s nice to be back at the races. We come here every year but because of the pandemic, this is our first night out in two years. We’ve had a hard year with Covid as we are all care workers, so it’s nice to be together again.”

Jim Broomfield and Ian Cross are pictured in front of the classic 1966 bus bar – the Hop-On Inn. An appropriate backdrop for a timeless look.

“We’ve come here especially for this race, it’s a great track and everyone’s really friendly so we had to come back,” said Jim.

Sarah mcCall and Josh Trowern tied their looks together with statement jewellery, sporting beautiful red earrings and a vintage pearl necklace.

“I’m so excited to be here. It’s my first time at Salisbury Races and we are having the best time. It’s lovely to be with all my friends again,” said Sarah.

Leo Edson and Yvette Emmerson went bold and beautiful pairing blues with pinks and reds.

“We live in Salisbury but this is our first time at the races. We are actually from South Africa but we’ve lived in Salisbury for 5 years. We like it here because the history is beautiful and the people are lovely,” said the ladies.

Amber Benco and Vicky Harris are from the villages surrounding Salisbury and wore a gorgeous green jumpsuit and a beautiful floral dress.

“Last time we came to the races was Amber’s hen do so it’s great to be back together after Covid. We’ve had a winner so I’m happy!

Brenda Harris is pictured pretty in pink.

“I’ve had a nice win at the races today. Lilac is my favourite colour but I fancied wearing pink today,” she told Love Salisbury.
