Guildhall Square festive prep underway

Salisbury’s Guildhall Square transformation is underway as the City Council prepares for Christmas to begin in earnest.

The outline of what will be Frost Bar has shot up today, with the frame erected and ready for the stretch tent to be added. The popular themed bar run by the team behind Tinga, Caboose and Deacons returns again this year.

Danny and Simon from Charter 1227 Catering are busy preparing to serve thousands of Bratwurst sausages to hungry festive shoppers, along with other stands also being set up.

Salisbury City Council has decided against a full-blown Christmas market this year, instead is calling the event Christmas on the Square.

There is a Grotto where children will be able to meet Father Christmas. They can enter his magical workshop and enjoy a Christmas story, a Santa selfie, a festive postcard, and a wrapped gift.

Pre-book your visit to Santa’s Grotto on the Experience Salisbury website for just £6.

The countdown to Christmas in Salisbury officially begins on Friday 18th November, with celebrations full of cheer organised by Salisbury City Council.

This festive treat marks the first day of the twinkling Christmas lights as well as the opening of Christmas on the Square and the Salisbury Christmas Trail.

The evening of family-friendly festive fun in the Market Place will kick off from 4 pm- 8 pm and will feature reindeer, The Grinch, carol singers, fair rides and other fantastic Christmas activities.

Salisbury’s popular performers, The Deloreons, will provide the soundtrack with festive singalongs!
