Good fun competition at Salisbury’s International Pancake Race

There was a good atmosphere as people competed in Salisbury’s International Pancake Race this morning (13th February).

Salisbury Foodbank organised the event in partnership with St Thomas’s Church, and it has been held on Shrove Tuesday for the past few years.

The races were held under the cover of Salisbury Cathedral’s Cloisters due to the rain, and a good crowd cheered on the participants as they raced alongside one side of the building.

Competitors had to flip their pancakes at two points as they dashed down the course.

Among those taking part were local councillors, people connected with Salisbury Foodbank and The Trussell Trust, and people representing local businesses and organisations, including the church.

Each race was started by Salisbury’s Mayor, Cllr Atiqul Hoque, whilst Salisbury’s MP, John Glen, formed part of the finish line stewarding team.

There were some good competitive races, with a photo required to determine the winner of one very close finish.

Ryan, who works for BFBS Salisbury Plain, won the final.
