First Look at The Tempest in Churchill Gardens

We now have our first look at The Tempest, the outdoor production that is one of the opening events of this year’s Salisbury International Arts Festival.

It’s the flagship summer production from Wiltshire Creative and is being hosted at Churchill Gardens.

Parts of the park itself are being used for the production as well as some besoke built ‘staging’ like a wooden ship.

The cast includes actors who have worked with Wiltshire Creative before and they are joined by local members of the community too.

The Tempest production is a re-imagining of Shakespeare’s tale and journies deep into one of Salisbury’s most beloved parks.

This centrepiece of Salisbury International Arts Festival follows a King and his entourage shipwrecked on an island of magic and mystery. It is a place of music and visions, surprising encounters, and unlikely friendships. But what secrets does this island hold?

Artistic Director of Wiltshire Creative, Gareth Machin said today: “It’s a huge privilege to be working with such a fantastic company of actors on this incredible play. With many of the actors based locally or former members of our youth theatre, Stage ’65, it’s a brilliant celebration of the creative talent in our city and region.”
