The Officers at Salisbury City Council say they would “like to congratulate Cllr Wills and are looking forward to working with her in the future.”

Reacting to the news of her win Cllr Wills said, “Thank you so much to everyone who voted in the by-election and supported our campaign. This is a fantastic opportunity to serve the whole community and make a real difference in Harnham West.

“My priority is to focus on public service over politics to get Salisbury moving. There can be no greater privilege than representing the area you grew up in and I can’t wait to get started.”

Conservative Cllr for St Edmunds Ward and Deputy Mayor Atiqul Hoque commented, “Well done Eleanor. The people of West Harnham made the right choice. Great teamwork and a fantastic candidate.

“We Conservatives are setting the example for others to follow, we now have more women and young and diverse members in our group.”

Cllr Charles McGrath for Milford and Conservative Group Leader said, “I’m overjoyed that all of Eleanor’s hard work has paid off and that she’ll be joining our Conservative team on Salisbury City Council.

“Her natural energy and enthusiasm to get the best deal for Harnham West residents was more than visible during the campaign. I and the rest of the group are looking forward to working with her to deliver more for Salisbury: from improving our local infrastructure and promoting sustainable transport to supporting a wide range of retail and live entertainment in the city.”
