Disrupted Salisbury Reds service today due to “significant driver absence”

Salisbury Reds has warned that bus services will be disrupted in and around the city today (Thursday 15th September 2022) due to significant driver absence.

Salisbury Reds general manager, Alex Chutter, explained, “I am very sorry to confirm that, despite all our efforts to minimise disruption, some of our services will not be running today.

“A number of issues have contributed to this – including the high number of drivers who are away from work, for a variety of reasons. As part of the wider Go South Coast company, we have been able to mitigate the effects of this disruption by bringing drivers in from our sister operator in Swindon.

“Many of our managers are also out driving today, in order to keep as many services running as possible.

“Alongside this challenging resources situation, we have been affected by recent issues with our IT systems, which we hope to resolve very soon. I realise this is far from ideal for our customers, who will be inconvenienced by a reduced level of service, and I would like to thank them, in advance, for their patience and understanding.

“My colleagues who are out driving today are doing their very best to keep the city moving, and I know those travelling with us will appreciate their efforts. We are working hard to get our full level of service back up-and-running as soon as we possibly can.”

Services affected include the R1 and Park & Ride network. The X4 service will also be slightly reduced. Salisbury Reds will be updating its website and app to reflect the changes. The operator will also provide regular updates via its social media channels.
