Casa Fina to close this summer

Casa Fina, based on Salisbury’s High Street, is to close after over 40 years as its owner announces their retirement.

The home furnishing shop, run by owner Susi Mason, has been serving customers for over 40 years and celebrated its anniversary late last year.

Casa Fina has had to constantly reinvent itself to keep up, changing from the Mediterranean look of the eighties store to a more contemporary mix of interior accessories found today.

The store will remain open until the summer, full of items and will be open six days a week from Monday.

Susi told Slaisbury Radio, “When we opened, I could never have imagined that we’d celebrate our 40th anniversary last year. This summer seemed the right time to retire from running the business. I’m looking forward to doing new things, although I have very few firm plans at the moment.

“I’ll be leaving just when Salisbury will be moving on from the chaos of the many roadworks and building projects. We now have great anchor stores in the city and I’m sure there will be new independents opening in due course including one that hopes to open here in the High Street shortly after we go in the summer.

“There have been so many lovely comments on social media; it’s wonderful that people think so fondly of a business that my mother and I started with so little experience all those years ago.”

The social media post said that there are new adventures ahead, and Susi is looking forward to new challenges and needing a change.

The post said: “Sad but exciting at the same time – I’m retiring in the summer! 😊😎

“After 40 years in Salisbury’s High Street it’s time to say goodbye to Casa Fina and hello to new adventures.

“I’m going to miss all our lovely customers but I feel the need for new challenges and opportunities which I hope will be around the corner.

“For now it’s business as usual, we’ve got a shop full of of lighting, home accessories and gifts with some special Easter decorations too. New deliveries will be arriving soon – we’ll have more Hogben Pottery, gorgeous garden lights and more Salisbury mugs but inevitably some stock lines may not be replenished when they sell through.

“If you’re needing lighting solutions we have new lamps on order or bring an old lamp in to give it a new lease of life with a replacement shade.

“There will be more news to follow in a couple of months I’m sure but for now please just note that from next Monday we’re open 6 days a week again 😁.”
