By-election confirmed for St Francis and Stratford ward

Salisbury City Council has confirmed that there will be a by-election for the vacant St Francis and Stratford ward.

The by election comes after former councillor Mark Mewse stepped down from the role after being found guilty of harassment.

Three people have been nominated to stand in the election; they are:

  • Robin Jackson (Liberal Democrats)
  • Sharon Rideout (Labour)
  • Andrew Suddards (Conservative)

The election will take place on Thursday, July 11th, with polling stations at Salisbury Scout Hut on Stratford Road and St Francis Church on Beatrice Road.

Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday, 25th June 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5 pm on Wednesday, 26th June 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote

Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5 pm on Wednesday, 3rd July 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate.

New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5 pm on Wednesday, 3rd July 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote

Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5 pm on Thursday, 11 July 2024
