Business development with employment and start-up focus set to come to High Post

A planning application for an employment-led business development has been submitted to Wiltshire Council for the land adjacent to High Post Business Park, Salisbury.

According to the planning statement, the proposed development will provide a bespoke employment space for Nationwide Engineering, (incorporating Concretene), Apsley Precision Engineering Ltd and C+O Tractors.

The existing businesses relocating to the site is expected to generate approximately 468 employees who will contribute an estimated annual value of £19.2 million to the local economy.

The development will create 8 separate buildings of various sizes to be occupied by the businesses named above. It will also see the creation of ‘The Merlin Centre’, which will comprise of 38 units that can be used by small and start-up businesses – similar to the 29 new small business units at Old Sarum.

According to the developer, the demand for smaller starter units and SME businesses is exceptionally high in Wiltshire.

The statement reads, “The Merlin Centre will provide new flexible business space for small and start-up businesses. Bauer Group will own the Merlin Centre and they are a long-established commercial developer who have been searching for similar sites for the last two years. South Wiltshire and Salisbury has been their prime focus due to the known high demand for high quality starter business units.”

Currently, The Merlin Centre is the only element of the application which is speculative, however, the developers say there have been multiple serious expressions of interest already.
