Salisbury had to settle for a point at the Ray Mac after being frustrated by a 10-man Farnborough side who defended well for most of the game a man short.
There wasn’t much to separate the two sides in the opening affairs before in the 20th minute Ricky Holmes was given his marching orders by referee Neil Pratt after performing an act of violent conduct on Canice Carroll.
Salisbury then took control of the ball, knocking it round patiently in pursuit of opening the visitors’ backline; however, the visitors remained solid defensively.
The only real half-chance came just before the interval. A Whites’ short corner was worked well to Jordan Ragguette, who fired in a low ball directed towards the six-yard box. The ball then fell to Dan Fitchett, who could only find a Farnborough boot with his attempt.
After a minute of added time, the two-sides made their way into the changing rooms.
Farnborough really started to frustrate the home side in the second half, it wasn’t until the 64th minute when a Salisbury corner that Sido Jombati flicked on towards the path of Aiden Elliott-Wheeler gave the Whites a chance, however on this occasion the score remained level after the latter failed to make any form of contact.
In the 82nd minute, Jaden Perez was denied by a good stop made by the hands of Jack Turner in the visitors’ net, the chance came after a good cross out wide.
Moments later, Elliot-Wheeler was set in behind for the best chance yet, after a bit of quality from the Whites. The attacker cut inside the defender but skied his attempt.
It wasn’t the last chance for Salisbury, the home side were awarded a freekick; Perez found Jomabti at the back post, who nodded the ball back across the face of the goal towards the lurking Noah Coppin who was martialled well by the defender and denied a tap in.
The fourth official signalled five additional minutes, however Salisbury would have to settle for a point after no more chances proved lucrative.
