Zyair Circus performer falls during opening night in Salisbury

An aerial circus performer fell during the opening night of Circus Zyair on Hudson's Field in Salisbury last night (Wednesday 18th May 2022).

Circus Zyair brought their big top tent to the city this week for five nights of action-packed shows featuring high energy acts from all over the world.

Today, Circus Zyair have confirmed that during last night's opening performance, an aerial performer fell and required medical assistance.

A spokesperson for Circus Zyaur said, "We can confirm that one of our aerial performers fell during last night's performance in Salisbury. She is a highly trained circus performer with many years experience. She loves her job and has been a valued member of the Circus Zyair family since 2015.

"She is currently recovering in hospital [and] will be discharged later today. We would like to thank the medical staff that quickly attended the site, hospital staff who are taking amazing care of her as well as the audience attending Wednesday's performance for their patience and understanding.

"Our remaining shows in Salisbury will be going ahead as planned."

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) sent an air ambulance and attended the scene.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said, “We were called at 20.17hrs on Wednesday 18th May to an incident in Salisbury. We sent an air ambulance and a double-crewed land ambulance and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Salisbury District Hospital."
