Work is due to start on a Zebra Crossing on Churchfields Road on Monday, as part of the Station Forecourt project.
Traffic management will be installed on Churchfields Road in Salisbury from Monday 11th November to facilitate the introduction of the zebra crossing.
The work will require amendments to the kerb line on both sides of the road in the vicinity of the rear pedestrian entrance to Salisbury Railway Station. Work will take place in two phases, with the traffic being reduced to a single lane controlled by temporary traffic signals.
The first phase will be on the north side of the road, where the traffic management will be in place:
- Between 11th November and 15th November for a 24-hour period
- Between 18th November and 22nd November between 8am and 4pm only
During the second phase, on the south side of the road, the traffic management will be in place:
- Between 25th November and 29th November for a 24-hour period
- Between 2nd December and 6th December between 8am and 4pm only
During both phases the traffic management will be removed at weekends.
This work forms part of the on-going Station Forecourt scheme which once complete will include a more attractive, and welcoming environment for visitors and residents alike.
Cllr Tamara Reay, Wiltshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “As part of our business plan, we’re committed to ensuring residents live in well-connected communities. A key feature of the Station Forecourt scheme is making the station more accessible to pedestrians and cyclists.
“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience or delays caused by these works and the traffic management, but it is essential to ensure the safety of the teams working to create the new zebra crossing.
“We would like to thank in particular the residents of Churchfields Road for their patience and continued co-operation in delivering this important scheme for Salisbury.”
