With local people likely to be worried about the cost-of-living crisis and need some information and advice, Wiltshire Council’s Wiltshire Wellbeing Hub is there for anyone who requires it.
The hub was originally set up at the start of the pandemic to provide information and advice. Anyone can access the hub and it can provide confidential advice, information, and signposting from the council’s friendly team in relation to the current high cost of living.
People can call the hub Monday to Thursday 9 am to 5 pm and Friday from 9 am to 4 pm on 0300 003 4576 or email wellbeinghub@wiltshire.gov.uk. The opening hours will continue to be regularly reviewed depending on what the demand is for the service.
Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said: “Just like during the height of the pandemic, the cost-of-living crisis is likely to affect most people one way or another. We really don’t want people to suffer in silence so if anyone needs us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. No query is too small, and our dedicated team will do what they can to help and ensure people have the information they need.
“The cost-of-living crisis is likely to affect people who perhaps haven’t required support before, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
“The hub supported thousands of people during the pandemic and our warm and friendly team are standing by and ready to help again.”
People are advised that if they do find themselves in some sort of financial difficulty to seek help as early as possible. Citizen’s Advice Wiltshire also provides lots of advice and support, with more information at https://www.citizensadvicewiltshire.org.uk/.
Wiltshire Council also recently set up an interactive community directory that informs people where their nearest warm space and local community food providers are by just selecting their postcode area. The council also confirmed its libraries are providing people a warm and friendly welcome to those who need it this winter by becoming warm spaces. More information about the directory and the council’s warm spaces service can be found at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/cost-of-living.
The council has also collated a range of information and guidance on a variety of cost-of-living related topics such as energy, council tax and benefits, housing information, the support of local partner agencies, and advice on mental health. There is also a section dedicated to support and advice for businesses.
