Wiltshire Creative has announced a full lineup of half term activities and workshops.
From pottery workshops with Bridget Timoney and creative craft sessions to singing workshops with Wiltshire Youth Choir and Make Music sessions with Salisbury Area Young Musicians Alice Poppleton and David Garcia, there is something suitable for all ages.
In addition, on 26th February, there is a new SHIFT Social at Salisbury Arts Centre - an evening of live music from some of Salisbury’s most promising young bands. SHIFT was established by Wiltshire Creative to amplify young voices through the arts. Now in its second year, SHIFT continues to strive to give young people a platform to be seen and heard.
The café/bar at Salisbury Arts Centre will be open from Tuesday to Friday – 10am to 2.30pm – across half term serving drinks, snacks and light meals, with arts and crafts provided to keep sticky fingers busy.

Creative Careers @Salisbury Playhouse – SOLD OUT

Creative Careers @ Salisbury Playhouse provides the opportunity for Key Stage 4&5 students to find out more about the Performing Arts Industry.
The day provides a valuable insight into the production process, relevant to all drama students, but is particularly beneficial to students interested in production or a career in live events.
Students will have the opportunity to get hands on by taking part in practical workshops led by industry professionals and get to grill those working in the industry about their roles and how they got there. Workshops have previously included lighting and sound, performance, producing, stage management and costume.

Wiltshire Youth Choir presents: Come & Sing Workshop
Monday 21st February 2022, 10am-12pm
Join professional choir leaders, Lynsey Docherty and Tim Gilvin, exploring music from different genres and find out more about Wiltshire Youth Choir.
Open to all young people, aged 12–18, who love to sing. No experience of sight reading is necessary.
Age guidance: 12 - 18 years. The session is free but places must be booked in advance.
Pottery Workshop - Make Your Own Pottery Breakfast Set – SOLD OUT
Tuesday 22 February at 10.30am - 12.00
Over the course of the morning, you can make a breakfast set inspired by nature.
In this workshop children and young people will learn various hand-building and modelling techniques to create their own individual egg cup, mug and side plate which can be designed in a shape of playful birds or any other animals and decorated with coloured slips. We will fire and glaze your work for you so that it will be food and dishwasher safe and can be used for eating your breakfasts this Spring. Nothing tastes as good as the food from your own handmade pottery! Come wearing old clothes and sensible shoes.

Pottery Workshop: Have a go on the Potter’s Wheel – SOLD OUT
Tuesday 22 February 2022 at 2pm - 4pm
Have you seen potters making a pot and dreamt about having a go yourself?
This is a perfect opportunity for children aged 10+ to try out what it feels like when learning to be a potter. At the end of your session, you will be able to choose three of your best pots which we will fire and glaze for you. Prepare to get dirty. We recommend that you come wearing old clothes, an apron and an old towel.
The workshops will be led by potter Bridget Timoney. Until September 2021 Bridget worked with Mirka Golden-Hann as the Visual Arts and Pottery Assistant at Salisbury Arts Centre. She studied ceramics at Limerick School of Art and Design, trained by Gus Mableson at the prestigious Thomastown Skills Course and has completed an Adopt a Potter apprenticeship with Julie Ayton. Bridget who has been potting for ten years, is now the Studio Ranger at the new ceramic studio at Messums Creative.

Get Creative – Make Music! 2022

Make music with us this February half term!
An engaging and fun introduction to music-making for children ages 7-11 (school years 3-6) in partnership with Salisbury Area Young Musicians. Come and make music with our two inspirational music leaders Alice Poppleton and David Garcia. No prior experience is necessary. All are welcome to take part and explore different musical activities and build music-making skills. Book a place and join us on this musical adventure! The session runs for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Please bring a bottle of water.

Bring your friends and make new ones whilst you’re here. Produced in association with Wiltshire Creative’s Young Ambassadors, a group of young people aged 14-21 who meet monthly to ensure that our programmes are relevant and exciting for young people in the local community.
